Smart Waiter began as a simple idea shaped by firsthand experience inside real restaurants. Starting work at a Lake Geneva, Wisconsin restaurant at fifteen, I moved through nearly every role — busser, server, bartender — and learned the rhythm of a working dining room from every side of the floor.
Over time, one pattern became clear: too much of what a customer needed to know — allergens, ingredients, hours, what's on the menu in their language — lived only in someone's head. Rushed, inconsistent, dependent on whichever server was nearest. Real risk for guests and real lost business for owners, every shift.
With a background in business and a drive to solve real problems, I taught myself to code and built Smart Waiter from the ground up — the consumer-facing experience powered by our Pie AI platform. Through constant testing and refinement, it evolved into a system designed to improve safety, multi-language access, clarity, and operational efficiency across the dining experience.
